I read the book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. Great stuff. In that book he clearly outlines the need for systems. I whole heartedly agree. But to what end?
Lately i’ve seen video after video on YouTube titled ‘Create systems, not goals’, or something similar.
While I agree with creating the systems, I can’t help but wonder, a system to do what? Why would we design a system in the first place? What are we trying to accomplish with said system?
Wouldn’t that be a GOAL??
While I believe systems are extremely important we need to remember that they are simply a means to an end, and that end is a goal.
So, yes please create your system, but also please stop saying ‘create systems, not goals’.
Without a goal to achieve your system doesn’t exist.
